120mm Unilin Thin-R FR-BGM , a component of Unilin's extensive range of high-performance flat roof boards, offers several benefits for flat roof projects:
The 120mm Xtratherm/Unilin Insulation Boards provided are compatible with a wide range of bitumen-based waterproofing systems. These systems typically involve a BS EN 13707:2013 type 3G perforated base layer or a proprietary system for roof waterproofing. When using the boards, it is recommended to have the fleece side facing upwards. Alternatively, full bonding is also an option. For guidance on managing moisture and condensation, it is advisable to follow the guidelines outlined in BS 8217 for reinforced bitumen membranes used in roofing applications.
The fall on a flat roof should be designed to ensure that rainfall does not pond.
Our 120mm Xtratherm / Unilin FR/BGM are designed for roof decks that experience minimal foot traffic and require limited maintenance. In cases where regular pedestrian access is necessary, walkways should be installed on the roof. Once the roof construction is finished, it is advisable to lay protective boarding if there is a need for additional work to be conducted on the site. This will help safeguard the integrity of the roofing system.
Built up roofing systems should be finished with a suitable reflective layer such as chippings. Advice should be sought from system manufacturer.
The fire rating, when tested to EN 13501-5 and BS 476 Part 3 ‘External Fire Exposure Roof Test’, will be dependent upon waterproofing system specified.
Decks should be primed before the application of the hot bitumen used to bond the vapour control layer. Reference should be made to BS 8217 when applying the vapour control layer. Carry the VCL past the insulation and seal with the parapet wall.
