Filcor is a brand name of a product offered by Cordek that is used for clay heave protection in construction projects. It is a type of clay heave protection geocomposite that is made of a combination of materials designed to provide an effective barrier against water and clay heave. Cordek Filcor is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) core with a non-woven geotextile outer layer, it is designed to provide a barrier to water whilst allowing water to pass through it, thus preventing water from reaching the expansive clay beneath the structure. It is also designed to provide an effective barrier against clay heave, by separating the structure from the clay and allowing for differential movement. Cordek Expanded Polystyrene is a suitable solution for protecting foundations, walls and floors against clay heave.
