The purpose of fire resistant plasterboard is to provide a fire resistant insulation barrier between the building's interior and exterior. It helps protect the building's occupants from the risk of injury or death as a result of fire. There are three types of fire resistant plasterboard: Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3. The type is determined by its ability to withstand direct exposure to flame for a specified period of time without sustaining structural damage or releasing toxic gases that may endanger life safety.
