The 100mm Rockwool External Wall Dual Density Slab is meticulously designed for optimal performance in external wall insulation applications. These 100mm external wall insulation boards feature a unique 'dual density' construction, comprising two distinct layers of wool with differing densities: a lower density layer for accommodating minor irregularities in the building fabric, and a higher density top layer, providing an ideal surface for render application. To secure these boards to the wall, 100mm Rockwool external wall insulation boards necessitate metal pin mechanical fixings in addition to robust adhesive. A minimum of 7 fixings per square meter is recommended for proper installation.

Application

100mm Rockwool Mineral Wool insulation slabs should be installed following the manufacturer’s instructions, which include design guidelines and application specifics. For maximum adhesion, we recommend fixing the boards to the substrate using mortar/adhesive along with mechanical fixings.

Due to the increased weight of Mineral Wool, we suggest using the EWI-225 Premium Basecoat for application rather than a standard adhesive typically used for lighter insulating materials. Begin by applying a thin, watery coat of the adhesive to the prepared surface. Once dry, apply the basecoat and embed the Fibreglass Mesh.

100mm Rockwool stone wool holds the top rating of ‘A1 – Non-combustible’ in the European Reaction to Fire Classification System, ensuring it doesn’t ignite or contribute to fire propagation.
