  1. 155mm Cordek Cellcore HX B is a lightweight EPS board designed for use under concrete beams and pile caps to combat ground heave. Grade 9/13 suits concrete up to 300mm, meeting performance specs.
  2. It's durable, BBA-certified, and NHBC-compliant, minimizing upward forces with patented technology.
  3. Various depths and grades are available, adaptable to soil heave and insulation needs under pile caps or beams.
  4. Choose the panel depth (85mm, 155mm, or 220mm) based on soil heave potential. It's easy to work with and has low dust when cut on-site.
  5. Grade 9/13 means a safe load of 9 kN/m2 and a fail load of 13 kN/m2. Safe load is the maximum force it can handle without breaking, while fail load causes permanent deformation.
  6. The 155mm HX B has a low shrinkage category and a plasticity index of 20-40.
  7. Manufacturing cost correlates with grade and concrete depth, with Grade 7/10 being the most economical compared to higher grades: 9/13, 13/18, 18/24, 24/32, and 32/42.

Design Notes

Each 155mm Cellcore HX B grade is engineered to accommodate a specific concrete thickness, along with a live load allowance of 1.5 kN/m2, while experiencing minimal creep compression during a 16-hour curing phase. This is referred to as the "SAFE LOAD."

Upon reaching the predetermined load, the polystyrene legs of the Cordek panels will yield and collapse due to the upward ground movement, a condition known as the "FAIL LOAD."

In the structural design process, it is imperative that the slab, beam, or pile cap be engineered to withstand the disparity between its self-weight and the fail load.
